Description
This is a screen for advanced hackers who prefer a large rectangular TFT screen with high pixel density. The 4″ display features 720×720 16-bit full-color pixels and uses an IPS panel, ensuring great color visibility up to 80 degrees off-axis in any direction.
Note: This version does not have a touchscreen.
The TFT driver is the ST7701S and utilizes TTL RGB ‘dot clock’ data. Unlike other funky-shaped displays, this model requires no SPI pre-configuration and boots directly in ‘RGB’ mode, making it an excellent panel to start with. Despite having a 40-pin connector, its pinout differs from the standard rectangular 800×480 or 480×272 displays, so it requires appropriate driver support.
To illuminate the display, a microcontroller capable of TTL RGB TFT driving is necessary, such as the ESP32-S3 with octal PSRAM, or a computer like the Raspberry Pi with direct-DPI connection or an intermediary ICN6211 chip. This display module includes no driver PCB.
Warning: Do not purchase unless you have a compatible driver board with the correct pinout and ability to support RGB-666 displays. Consider the Adafruit Qualia ESP32-S3 for TTL RGB-666 Displays to drive this panel.
