Description
PowerBoost 500 Basic is the perfect power supply for your portable project! This DC/DC boost converter module can run from 1.8V batteries or higher, converting that voltage to 5.2V DC to power your 5V projects. The 5.2V output provides a bit of ‘headroom’ to compensate for long cables, high current draw, or the addition of diodes on the output, while being safe for all 5V-powered electronics such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or BeagleBone.
At its core, it utilizes the TPS61090 boost converter from Texas Instruments, featuring low battery detection, a 2A internal switch, synchronous conversion for high efficiency, and 700KHz high-frequency operation.
- Synchronous operation allows complete disconnection of output by pulling the Enable pin (EN) low.
- 2A internal switch (2.5A peak limiting) enables 500mA+ from 1.8V, 750mA+ from 2 NiMH or Alkaline batteries, and 1000mA+ from a 3.7V LiPoly/LiIon battery.
- Low battery indicator LED lights red below 3.2V, ideal for LiPo/LiIon battery usage.
- Includes on-board 500mA Apple/iOS charge-rate data resistors; solder in the USB connector to charge iPhone/iPod (not recommended for iPad).
- Full breakout for battery input, control pins, and power output.
- Over 90% operating efficiency with a low quiescent current: 5mA when enabled (power LED on), 20μA when disabled.
Ideal for powering robots, Arduino projects, and single-board computers like Raspberry Pi or BeagleBone. Each order includes one assembled and tested PCB and a loose USB A jack to solder for USB power input.
