Description
This mini Class D stereo amplifier board with AGC and I2C control offers powerful audio amplification in a compact form factor. It delivers 2 x 2.8W channels into 4Ω speakers at 10% THD and integrates an automatic gain control system to prevent audio clipping and distortion.
The amplifier powers up with a default 6dB gain and pre-configured AGC for most music playback. Advanced users can control gain and AGC settings over I2C with a microcontroller, though these settings are not stored upon power-down.
Featuring a class D controller operating from 2.7V to 5.5V, the amplifier is highly efficient, reaching 89% efficiency when driving 8Ω speakers at 1.5W, suitable for portable and battery-powered projects. Thermal and over-current protection are built-in, and the bridge-tied output design is optimized to drive speakers directly without additional output filters for wires under 2″-4″ length.
This fully assembled and tested breakout board includes 1.0uF input capacitors, 3.5mm screw-terminal blocks for speaker connections, and header pins for breadboarding. Note that the terminal blocks may be blue or black. Speakers are sold separately; use any 4Ω or 8Ω impedance speakers.
