Description

If your project is moving a lot of power around and efficiency is key, the Adafruit LM73100 Ideal Diode breakout is great to keep your power budget tidy. It works with power supplies from 3 to 23V DC up to 5A, acting like a diode to keep current flowing in one direction, but with much lower voltage drop compared to a traditional diode.

The internal chip uses two back-to-back FETs with a typical Rds(on) of 30 mΩ, resulting in a voltage drop of around 150mV at 5A load. This increases efficiency for setups like solar panels and LiPoly batteries.

Features include solder-free operation with onboard terminal blocks, a green LED indicator that lights when power flows in the correct direction, and an analog current monitor (IMON) for measuring current draw.

The board is on a compact PCB with 9 x 0.1″ breakout pads. Includes a 16-pin header for breadboarding, requiring light soldering, or can be directly wired via terminal blocks.

  • Wide input voltage range: 2.7 V to 23 V (28 V absolute max)
  • Integrated back-to-back FETs with low On-Resistance: 28.4 mΩ typical
  • True reverse current blocking and ideal diode operation
  • Fast overvoltage protection
  • Typical response times: 1.2 μs (normal), 500 ns (overcurrent)
  • Analog load current monitor output (IMON) with ±15% accuracy
  • Overtemperature and latch-off protection
  • Power Good (PG) indication
  • Compact size: 25.6mm x 17.6mm x 11.9mm (1.0″ x 0.7″ x 0.5″)
