Description
The Adafruit VEML7700 is a high accuracy lux sensor that makes measuring ambient light easy and consistent. Unlike typical light sensors that return unit-less values, the VEML7700 calculates the lux value directly, which is a standardized SI unit for light intensity.
This sensor supports a 16-bit dynamic range from 0 lux to approximately 120 klux and offers a resolution down to 0.0036 lx/ct. It also features software-adjustable gain and integration times for flexible sensing in various lighting conditions.
The breakout uses universal I2C interface and includes a 3.3V regulator and logic level shifting allowing it to work with both 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers. STEMMA QT connectors provide solderless plug-and-play connectivity with compatible devices.
Adafruit offers libraries for Arduino and CircuitPython, and the sensor is easily used with platforms such as Raspberry Pi. The sensor board has been updated to include a legible silkscreen and now comes in STEMMA QT format for simplified connectivity.
