Description
Create your own 8×16 LED matrix display for any Feather with this compact and versatile kit. Featuring two ultra-bright 0.8″ square 8×8 white LED matrices combined with a FeatherWing driver board, this kit offers 128 bright white LEDs in a compact size that’s perfect for wearable electronics, mini displays, and more.
The included FeatherWing board is equipped with an HT16K33 I2C LED matrix driver that multiplexes the LEDs and controls them via just two I2C pins, requiring far fewer GPIO pins than wiring individual LEDs. This makes it ideal for scrolling text, bitmap emoticons, and small video displays.
Kit includes:
- One fully tested and assembled 16×8 0.8″ LED FeatherWing
- Two ultra-bright square 8×8 white LED matrices
- Two 16-pin headers
A bit of soldering is required to attach the matrices onto the FeatherWing, taking approximately 15 minutes.
See the tutorial for assembly instructions, pinouts, CircuitPython and Arduino library code, and schematics.
